I've noticed that the links that get the most traffic to my blog(s) often happen to be things that I've written about that I've had trouble finding elsewhere. This works as follows:
1) I search for something on Google, and can't find it easily
2) I do a blog entry on said topic
3) The hits come
The cool thing about this approach to blogging is that in addition to getting hits, I end up blogging about things that interest me and (perhaps most importantly) I learn about the topic in question in the process.
If you build it they will come. :)

Interesting. I might think about doing that.
Excellent points. I was coming to these conclusions but you've stated it succinctly. Thanks, Ran; http://lessonsfromearthschool.blogspot.com/
